    however id recomment you do a white balance check on your camera, maybe you can calibrate it ones to where the plain paper appears white. otherwise there is a lot whitechange in the recording.

    In this particular painting I used a cold pressed for the grain of the wood grain, it’s grainier, but if I am to do a portrait, always use hot pressed, much less forgiving however much softer. :) Hope that helps, and thank you for your kind comments. :) Truly appreciative

    People do it in all the ways you mention, Cocoa. Some make a very detailed drawing and let the pencil marks become part of the finished painting, others will make a sketch, while others will just rough out the proportions. Depends on the subject matter and the artist.
