How to protect marker posters from fading in the sun?

Posted by admin on March 7th, 2010 and filed under posters | 2 Comments »

I have a bunch of posters that are colored with markers on my door. I have been noticing lately that the colors have been fading.
Is there any way to stop this?
Any way to prevent it from happening?

You pretty much have to keep your posters or any artwork from having sunlight shining on them. Even if you have the posters framed and behind glass, hanging them in sunlight will cause damage to them. Better to hang something on your door that you don’t care so much about so that when it fades, you will replace it with something else and not be heartbroken over the damage to the first item. Why not make something like a fabric wall hanging to hang on the back of your door? It will fade, but if you make it out of very bright vibrant colors, you will be less likely to notice the fading for some time. While you have the fabric, make two wall hangings so you’re ready to replace the first one when necessary or you can alternate and hang one wall piece for a week and switch to the second and then just alternate back and forth. In the meanwhile, you could be making other wall pieces to add to the rotation. Eventually you’ll have enough wall hangings that the rotation will keep them in fairly good condition and if your friends see these, they just might ask you to make one for them and then you can start up a little business.

Best way to hang these posters?

I recently bought two very large posters from the movie "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" and would love to hang them up. I am concerned about tape ruining the back and do not want to use thumbtacks because I don’t want the posters to have holes in them. I bought some Command poster strips, which are supposed to be removable from both the wall and poster without any residue. Does anyone know if these actually work when it comes to removing them from the poster? I do not want to use these to hang them only to damage them when I need to take them down.

That goop you can buy works at times but sometimes its oils can penetrate the paper over time.Framing’s nice but can be expensive. Cheaper solutions are poster hangers (which are essentially oversize slide-grip report bingings placed on the top and bottom of the poster with string looped through the top binding for hanging) and there’s always plaquing which is also cheap and will help protect it in the long-term.

What is the best site for downloading movie posters?

What are some good sites that have medium-high resolution images of movie posters? Most sites that sell posters have a watermark. moviepostersdb.com looks good but you have to pay to download images. No way. If I want to pay to see a poster I’ll buy the physical item.

Search your movie on this site and when the movie appear just click on it and on Subtitle Download page you will find that movie poster.

What did the original Star Wars movie posters look like?

Posted by admin on February 21st, 2010 and filed under posters | 2 Comments »

I am fixing up my husband’s "man cave" and as a surprise, I’m including three framed Star Wars posters (his favorite). I already have the first one and need Return of the Jedi and Empire Strikes Back. I’ve spotted a lot of retro looking posters and I’m not sure if they are actually reprints of how it looked back then or are new posters that are made to look vintage. I don’t want actual vintage posters, just reprints of what they originally looked like. Does anyone know? Thanks!

There are actually quite a few for each of the movies … it was almost like every time a new trailer came out so did a new poster.

I have a bunch of these "posters" including the "misdirection" one that was put out claiming that the name of ep VI was "Revenge Of The Jedi" instead of "Return Of The Jedi". Drop me a message with your email address in it and I’ll be more than happy to send them out to you.

How should I stick up posters on my wall in my bedroom?

Posted by admin on February 19th, 2010 and filed under posters | 10 Comments »

I have many posters and I’m just wondering what I should use to stick them up. I’m also wondering if I should overlap the posters, or space them far apart or put them close together. Anything that will make it look like a real teenager’s room. I am male and I am 13 by the way.

Space them and use two way tape ( or circle the adhesive tape ) on the back of the posters.

Is it illegal to tape posters to traffic lights?

I am planning on having a car wash in New Jersey, and would like to tape a few posters to traffic lights to draw attention to its location. I’ve seen people stake posters in the ground next to the lights, but I’m not sure about taping them to the traffic lights.
Just to clarify, would it be illegal to stake a sign next to the traffic light?
Just to clarify, would it be legal to stake a sign next to the traffic light?

Different cities have different laws. There may be a fine for doing just that. Since you are advertising where you will be when the sign is up, you should check first before getting busted.

Where can I get cosmetology posters for a new cosmetology classroom?

Posted by admin on February 15th, 2010 and filed under posters | 1 Comment »

I want to know where i can find free cosmetology posters if possible from companies like Paul Mitchell, TiGi, redken, sebastian, chi, loreal etc. I just need to find posters bad as my sisters classroom is empty, please any suggestions greatly appreciated, thanks!

Why don’t you try writing to the companies? Visit their websites and look for a "Contact Us" link. Actually it would be better if your sister did it. She should explain that she’s a cosmetology instructor and she’s looking for any decorative materials for her classroom. They should be happy to help.

If I were you, I would also check out any poster shop and look for posters of iconic women – e.g. Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, etc. or classy posters of more current celebrities.

Creative ways to use old posters?

Posted by admin on February 12th, 2010 and filed under posters | 4 Comments »

I have several posters that i would like to incorporate into my new bedroom, however; I don’t want to just hang them on the wall. has anyone ever done anything creative with posters? any pics? ideas?
    * they are standard size posters

*Jim Morrison, Bob Marley, Marilyn Monroe, Abbey Road, Dark Side Of The Moon.

they are trying to be worked into an urban outfitters style bed room.

How about a room divider/ dressing screen. I was thinking something like three panels above w/ posters and fabric below.

Or cut them into strips and glue to vertical blinds?

Kinda need to know; how many you have, general size, any theme to them? More info could help get more ideas from answerers.

What is the best way to hang up posters or flags?

Posted by admin on February 10th, 2010 and filed under posters | 2 Comments »

I Just bought some posters and before i hang them i am going to laminate them so they do not get damaged at all. What is the best way to hang them in my new room that was just painted? I heard the sticky putty works well? Blue-tac? I do not want to damage the wall period or put holes in it. I also got some flags what about them?

For me it’s all about looks and décor – I have several collector posters in my music room along with some other cool looking posters and I have them all in poster frames with acid free foam board backing with clear lexan fronts.

All have mounting brackets and where easy to install, you can find ton’s of poster frames by doing a Google search for poster frames.

You can do the same with flags
