Portrait Comparison – Male vs Female

It seems like a lot of people are either better at drawing women and have trouble with men, or vice-versa. Usually females have an easier time drawing females and males have an easier time drawing males. So I wanted to do a side-by-side comparison of some of the differences when drawing males compared to females. I know that the presentation is a bit weird and awkward, but it’s the best way I could think of to show the differences. I included a colouring portion to show some of the concerns that need to be taken into account when colouring also. I had no idea what to call this, hence the crappy title.

Mimi Kirchner, a.k.a. mck254, spent twenty years “being distracted” by ceramics before she discovered her true calling, making dolls. Mimi’s childhood was spent surrounded by crafting materials. Her mother was an avid seamstress interested in high fashion, and she collected an endless array of gorgeous fabrics over the course of her life. After her mother’s passing, Mimi decided she wanted to make something out of her mother’s legacy. Thus was the beginning of Mimi’s doll making career.

SIMON COWELL ON TOAST MARMITE PAINTING, Nathan Wyburn

READ: Here I paint a portrait of Simon Cowell on 30 pieces of toast using Marmite.
I was inspired by hearing an interviewer saying you either love him or you hate him, which of course is the slogan on Marmite.
You either love it or you hate it

This was very interesting to do as it was so unpredictable how it would turn out. The angle of camera is so that I could fit the whole image in the camera frame, so the lower face may seem abit oddly shaped at first.
