need to find a good local artist to do a few portraits for me. if they have a myspace page it would be greatly appreciated if you can leave me a link in your response.
Looking in the area of exton, westchester, thorndale,Lancaster or phildelphia anywhere around there.

Depending on what part of PA you are from, Jimmy Roach in Indiana, PA is the best in Indiana. He does awesome work. Also, there is a place called west side tattoo that did my uncles tattoo of my grandparents. It came out so nice. Jimmy Roach is incredibly busy so you should call him soon if you want it any time within the next few months.

Are the portraits of HARRY POTTER an extension of life?

Portraits can carry on conversations and stuff and that’s cool. But it throws me that some portraits are of actual people. What are the rules of the portraits?

    1) How do portraits come to possess personalities and consciences of their own? How do portraits come to be different from every day paintings? (I know pics in the Daily Prophet or Quibbler can move around but that’s very different of course)

    2) If someone dies and a portrait of them is made, does the portrait entity live on with all of the memories of its living self? Is it practically the same person or just a cheap imitation?

    3) How does all this work if a moving portrait is made of a still living person?

I think of the moving portraits to be sort of like Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs in the Marauder’s Map…it just reacts like they would.

Where can I get great RPG portraits for the characters in the game I’m running?

I’ve Googled and Yahoo’d and hit up site after site. I’d like to find a high quality artist who would be willing to do portraits for our game in exchange for advertising on our site.

Have you tried http://www.artwanted.com ? Amongst the crap there are some fantastic artist that do exactly what you are asking for for a living. Check em out. Is there anyway of seeing your work or getting in contact with you?
A high quality artist puts alot of time and work into their pieces you should consider offering something more than advertisment if you want an experienced artist. If they are high quality more than likely they already have the advertising area taken care of.

also try http://www.deviantart.com if you haven’t already.

What should I do to prepare for my senior portraits?

Posted by admin on February 23rd, 2010 and filed under portraits | 8 Comments »

I am (a guy) taking my senior portraits tomorrow, and I am a little confused with the process of it. Are we supposed to dress casual (like a hoodie or track jacket and jeans) to take our photos? Is the photographer supposed to give me an add-on tuxedo to wear for my senior portraits? I just plan to take the yearbook poses, because I don’t seem interested in the casual poses.

In addition, I have unmanagable curly hair. What I mean my unmanagable is that I CAN NOT get it the way I want it. It is not the type of hair that curls everywhere, but if I comb it straight, it is obvious it is curly. Is there any way to make my hair look the way I want it to look? (I want straight hair, preferably spikey hair).

    Thank you!

okay so i am a girl first of all…
but for the place my brother went for his senior pictures he wore jeans and a shirt (no hoodie) it was summer
and they gave him a tux thing to wear and he got to pick out which color bow tie he wanted
for the casual poses he did that too but on a different day later in the year because our mom wanted them….
for your hair take your shower then i know this sounds odd for guys but blow dry oyu hair and if you don’t understand how ask you mom or if you have a sister or if you have a close friend that is a girl or a girl friend use her (blow drying makes it straght if your mom or sister or girlfriend or friend girl does it properly) then take gel to spike it and spike it how ever you like…

    hope i helped

Is it true that politicians get free portraits taken?

Posted by admin on February 17th, 2010 and filed under portraits | 3 Comments »

I want to be a politician (senator) for my state in New York in the future. I already am a member of the democratic party and I plan to run when I reach my 30’s. Howeber, I don’t want to pay for my mandatory portrait so are congressmen and senators given free portraits?
Money is not a factor. My father works in business and he’ll probably donate to my campaign. Though I’m not sure about the little things once I get elected.

if you are serious invest in your future!

if you are worried about a few hundred dollars for a Pro to make you look great, what will your campaign look like? cant pay for professional images – cant pay for a campaign.

EDIT: im going to treat this as an attempt at humour by you.

You will need shots for your campaign right? well use an ameteur and you will look it, pay for a Pro and you will look like a professional candidate

How would I get signatures from paper onto the yearbook pages to put underneath the senior portraits?

Posted by admin on February 15th, 2010 and filed under portraits | 1 Comment »

I’m on the yearbook team for high school this year and my job is to get the signatures from all of the seniors that are graduating, scan them in, and get them on the pages under their senior portraits.

We’ve never done this before but I’ve seen it, so I know it’s possible.

What kind of paper would I use? What kind of template? How do I photoshop everything else out? What is the best and most time efficient way to do this?

    Thank you!

What will you need to photoshop out? When we did ours, we had each senior sign on their own index card. Wait, this was kind of time consuming, and I don’t know when your deadline is. It was the easiest way we could figure to do it. Anyway, we just had to scan each card in and saved them all as a jpg image, then added it onto the pages by "inserting an image" underneath the corresponding senior pic. But we were using Adobe InDesign. What program do you use?

how do I paint portraits in acrylics?

Posted by admin on February 12th, 2010 and filed under portraits | 2 Comments »

I am looking for someone to help me out with painting portraits. Drawing, I have no (ok, little) problems, but when it comes to painting, I have so many problems. For instance, what colours do I lay down first, darker, or lighter?

Dark to light. Start with a dark mid-tone, then build on that. Paint with the light, so to speak. Go over the whole canvas with a color, then make a gradient with a slightly different color. These colors will help tie the whole picture together.
