What temperature should I wash a canvas bag at in the machine?

I have an old, light grey canvas bag that I am putting into my washing machine. Should I select cold, and treat it like delicates, or hot like a sheet? It’s relatively dirty, never been washed before, and hand-washing not worth the effort.

I’d risk anything up to 40degC myself. But a good cold soak first might be worth the effort if that seems like it will loosen up the engrained dirt. My machine also has a button to add more water to the wash which helps – modern machines default to minimal water for environmental ratings.

Just wash it cold. If you wash it in hot it will shrink.

If there is no tag telling you washing details, go for a cold wash and hope for the best
