  • Can I wash a canvas bag with leather details?

Posted by admin on March 1st, 2010 and filed under canvas | 2 Comments »

I’ve got a small messenger bag made from 100% cotton (it’s a canvas material) and it has leather details. The edge of the flap is made from leather, as is the very bottom of the bag. There are also a few thin leather straps and other details– most of the bag is made with this army canvas material.

The bag was made by Wilsons Leather, and I would love to know if there’s a way I can wash it, be it with a light detergent and water or what. I have no plans on drying it in the dryer.

I had something similar; I did a quick cold water hand washing, patted the leather dry with a clean lint free towel (linen) and put leather conditioner back on the leather parts, it still looks good as new.

It needs to be leather cleaned and then you may get damage. I have had a few bad experiences with Wilsons Leather. Good luck!
